Birthday Party Ideas I made this tutu for my little girl who is turning One next week. Not hard at all, and it looks like so much fun! I used this tutorial http://www.sengerson.com/seng/?p=333
My son is having a Monster Bash for his birthday which just happens to be the day before! I made these out of felt, but still very cute. Inspired directly by the plates and napkins that I found at Walmart for .50!

We took our first real family vacation last week to visit my sister Amy and her family in Silverton Oregon! That's right 3 kids and two semi-sane parents on a 4 hour plane ride. Traveling sucks, but the trip was wonderful! So we just got home yesterday and today I get this picture from my sister:
What a true statement! I miss her already, we are friends like sisters should be. She is the person that makes me want to be better and who inspires me to believe in myself. We are alike in so many ways and we love that about each other. We have shared so many good times and can laugh for hours. My favorite part about visiting her is when we say: "remember the time..." and take a stroll down memory lane. What a wonderful person she is!

Making a Box into a lined basket

So I decided to try a new project tonight and try my hand at a tutorial as well. It may prove harder than it looks! I started with a cardboard box that Dan's ipod dock came in and cut the flaps off.

Then I hot glued some cute Dollar Store wrapping paper to the box. You could probably Mod Podge it as well, but I was experimenting and short on time.

Here is what it looks like once I finished wrapping the box. You will need to glue down well so it doesn't pucker. Also wrap it around the whole bottom and an inch into the inside.

Next I followed this youtube video:

How to sew a basket liner

I did it step by step to make the liner. The only thing I did different was to use ribbon instead of elastic around the top. I also glued my liner in so that it didn't slip out.

And this is how it turned out!

Adventures in Weight loss

So I am struggling with losing the baby weight after baby #3. It has only been 3 1/2 months, but I really want my body back. I wasn't able to breastfeed AGAIN, so I am on my own here. i decided to do the hCG that I had done last year. It had worked so well and I kept the weight off permanently. So after the Christmas binge, I came home and committed myself to this very extreme diet for 41 days. Well, It didn't work out. After 11 days on hCG I was still starving! The first 2 times I had tried it, i wasn't hungry after the first 3 days or so. This time I was shaking, weak, taking 2 naps just to survive and my stomach was growling 24 hours a day. I just couldn't keep starving myself. 500 Calories is starvation. So I prayed about it and felt like this wasn't the solution for me right now. So I did lose 10 pounds that first week and I am trying not to gain it back, but to jump right into exercise and eating no sugar, dairy and wheat. I am lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive, so that is the reason for those restrictions. I hope I can keep my spirits high and keep on keeping on.
